  • Hygiene Grade SAP

The SAP is widely used in the hygiene products such as the baby diapers, the sanitary napkins, and the protective underwear for the adults.

    The mechanism involved

The main feature which lets SAP be used in these products is its capability to absorb the aqueous solution and swell up or expand in size. It is possible due to the sodium polyacrylate present in the SAP which is a water absorbing chemical. As soon as the SAP comes in contact with the water, water is drawn and held tightly by the molecules of the polymer and not letting it go out or get squeezed from the structure which is already expanded by acting as a semi-permeable membrane. This membrane doesn’t allow the substituents which are charged and trapped to move out into the solution. Also, the fix ions of the surrounding outer solution are attracted to these fixed charges present. The fibers which resemble a cotton-like structure help in spreading both the liquid as well as the polymer. Although the powdered polymer has its own limit still it can hold a great amount of water.

The swelling and the elasticity ability is a must module and hence the cross-linking should be as minimum as possible so as to increase the extent to which the polymer can swell and absorb making it highly insoluble but highly expandable too.

    Baby Diapers:

SAP has a huge absorbing capacity, maintenance ability, and good permeability thereby making it apt to be used in baby diapers to prevent the infiltration process to happen again at a certain level of pressure.

    Adult Diapers:

Owing to the properties already stated, SAP is being used in adult diapers too to help the people who lack a voluntary control over urination. It has a layered construction due to which 0.9 % of the NaCl is transferred to the core structure of the absorbent where it is locked tightly to prevent leaking.

    Sanitary Napkins:

A women’s sanitary napkin should have the ability to retain and absorb water so as to keep the napkin dry and make the women feel comfortable. SAP has the required ability to resist moisture, good absorbing capacity, gel strength and fast suction of the blood.

  • The Industrial grade SAP

Application of SAP in cables: SAP used in a cable has swelling abilities to prevent the water from penetrating the communication cable or the underground power. Traditional SAP powders, as well as the new, solvent-free SAP, are provided by us with the trade name of The polymers fulfill all the economic and technical demands of the cable industry.

    How does it work?

The polymer swells to a larger extent to block the water penetration by sealing the voids in the cable immediately thereby preventing the movement of water.

    Application in liquids

When used with liquids, SAP helps to provide a coating on foils, yarns, microwave, and woven to make them swell able which solves the problem of proper distribution on the surface and the need of a multi-layer carrier.

    Application in powder

SAP in powdered form provides the balance which is required between the gel blocking and swelling ability by controlling the particle size distributions, anti-caking, and chemistries required by various environments.

These applications can be performed in the best way by using fluidized and electrostatic applicators. The longevity of the hydrogel also plays a crucial part in the cables which have a planned operating life of about 40 or more years.

Where is SAP used in Cables?
    , Sap-application

    Characteristics of the product:

    • It is easy to use
    • Has quick swelling properties
    • It is resistant to micro-organism
    • It is non-toxic and anti-corrosive
    • It offers high mechanical stability and gel strength

Mainly suited for underground, underwater, coaxial, electrical, telecommunications, and optical cables.

    Applications of SAP:

    • As a coating in the powder form onto foils, yarns, woven, and nonwoven
    • In powder form onto the shielding or the core or the conductor area of the cable, into the nonwoven, hot melts, filling and flooding compounds.

    Ice gel pack:
    Sap-application
It is a portable plastic bag like structure filled with refrigerated gel or liquid or water. Water has a high latent heat of fusion and hence it can absorb a lot of heat before it is warmed above 0-degree Celcius. These packs are used to keep the food cold, to insulate the containers while shipping, or as a cooling bag to get relief from the pain inflicted by minor injuries.

The SAP provided by us for the gel packs is used a lot in transportation and packaging industry.

Key features and benefits of ice gel pack.

    Features and benefits:

    • It swells up easily
    • It is used extensively in packaging industry
    • It has the capacity to absorb and retain fluids
    • It is mechanically stable
  • Other products:

    Sandbags for controlling flood:
    Sap-application
It replaces the traditional sandbags which were used in flood defense. It is a jute bag which contains SAP inside the inner bag which is finely woven. It is soaked in water for 3 to 5 minutes as a result of which the bag inflates itself to 30 times of its original size. This inflated bag can be used for constructing flood defense and hence controlling flood.

Use: It provides temporary protection from the flood.

Mechanism: The absorbing capability of the SAP absorbs water and lets the bag swell up thereby making it difficult for the water of the flood to enter the premise around.

    Benefits:

    • The bag is biodegradable
    • It has a long shelf life of about 5 to 10 years
    • It can expand up to 25 kg from a mere 0.5 kg weighted bag
    • It gets automatically inflated in just about 3 to 5 minutes

    Disposable urine:

The SAP disposable urine bags are very convenient to use. It has a fabric pouch which is non-woven and contains a polymer which is biodegradable and disables the growth of bacteria and enhances the absorption of liquid waste thereby converting it into a gel bag that is spill-proof, odorless, non-toxic and safe to dispose of.

Use: It is used as a urine bag for emergency situations
Mechanism: The SAP Polymer helps to absorb the urine and also solidify it.

    Cooling wear:
    Sap-application
SAP helps to cool you down during strenuous activities due to the ability of the evaporative cooling material which is a fabric that absorbs water and then slowly releases it through evaporation. It just needs to be soaked in water for about 1 to 2 minutes, followed by squeezing out the excess water present if any and then enjoying the cooling effect for 5 to 10 hours that follow.

Use: It is used in the caps, vests, headbands, and ties for cooling purpose.
Mechanism: It helps to cool down the targeted parts- the wrist, head, neck etc.

    Instant Snow:
Another common use of Sodium Polyacrylate -SAP, known commercially as “instant snow”, is sold as a white powder that can absorb water several hundred times its weight. In so doing, it expands and hardens into a white fluffy that looks and feels very similar to snow.
